Instrumentation & Control Engineer

About the role

Stantec seeks an Instrumentation & Control Engineer (Consultant/Resident-Engineer-support role) for a water/wastewater infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. The role is site-based: supervising contractor installation, FAT/SAT, loop checks, commissioning and handover of I&C systems (PLC, SCADA, RTU, telemetry), site inspections, and progress reporting to the Resident Engineer.

Requirements

• B.E. Instrumentation & Control
• 10-15 years experience
• Experience on Siemens, Rockwell Automation, PLC and Emerson DCS
• Experience on WWTP / STP Middle East region project
• Knowledge of international standards like ISA, BS, IEC, NEMA

What you'll do

• Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems in accordance with project specifications and contract requirements
• As Consultant, ensure contractor compliance with approved drawings, method statements, quality standards, and HSE requirements
• Review and approve I&C-related shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, ITPs, and commissioning procedures
• FAT, SAT, loop checks, functional testing, and commissioning activities for PLC, SCADA, RTU, telemetry, and field instrumentation systems
• Monitor contractor progress, identify technical issues, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project schedules
• Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical disciplines to ensure successful system integration
• Review inspection reports, calibration certificates, testing records, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and commissioning documentation
• Participate in site inspections, progress meetings, and technical coordination meetings with clients and contractors
• Prepare progress reports and provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and Project Manager
• Ensure successful commissioning, performance testing, and final acceptance of I&C systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
