Senior ML Research Engineer, Virtual Cell

About the role

Remote research engineer on AQCell virtual-cell models for drug discovery. Build ML models predicting transcriptomic response and endpoints such as cell viability, IC50, and toxicity from large biological datasets. Requires scientific ML, Python/PyTorch or JAX, large-scale data pipelines, rigorous evaluation, and industry experience maintaining models; biology and transcriptomics are preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in scientific or quantitative field; MS or PhD preferred
• Experience building and maintaining ML models in a scientific industry setting from prototype through validation and maintenance
• Large-scale dataset ingestion, cleaning, versioning, and pipeline maintenance
• Strong Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX
• Sound evaluation design and interpretation against meaningful baselines
• Bioinformatics/transcriptomics and perturbation datasets desirable

What you'll do

• Build and maintain models predicting expression perturbations and functional endpoints
• Harmonize large biological datasets and training pipelines
• Automate evaluation and implement robust statistical baselines
• Translate scientific literature into tested model code
• Collaborate with biologists, engineers, and product stakeholders
• Document methods and results
