About the role

UK government AI Security Institute (part of DSIT), Cyber & Autonomous Systems Team, evaluates frontier and open-weight AI model capability in cybersecurity and autonomy. Open to any nationality/background per stated nationality rules, but successful candidates must pass a criminal record check and obtain BPSS security clearance before appointment, with a strong preference for CTC clearance eligibility.

Requirements

• Delivering and maintaining production-quality software
• Deep Python experience
• Designing and evolving software systems or technical architecture
• Strong interest in AI safety
• Must undergo a criminal record check and obtain UK government baseline personnel security standard (BPSS) clearance before appointment; strong preference for counter-terrorist check (CTC) clearance eligibility

What you'll do

• Build evaluation infrastructure for cyber and autonomy evaluations at scale
• Develop analysis tooling including LLM-as-a-judge workflows
• Lead testing exercises and communicate findings
• Own technical projects end to end
• Write production-quality Python software
