About the role

Software Engineer on Mimecast's Data Platform team, processing large volumes of data on AWS to power ML models and threat-detection products. Hybrid (2 days/week in office). Salary £48,000-£72,000.

Requirements

• Experience with Java development (Java 21+) to build services and libraries
• Experience developing and supporting backend data-processing systems within AWS
• Hands-on experience with foundational AWS services (ALB, ECS, S3, ElastiCache, IAM, CloudWatch)
• Knowledge of implementing/maintaining Kafka-based event-driven services
• Proficiency in relational or NoSQL databases (design, optimization, management)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or AWS CloudFormation)
• Knowledge of Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively

• Implement scalable and reliable microservices on AWS infrastructure
• Mentor and guide junior engineers
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Support during critical incidents and implement preventive measures
• Monitor and analyze AWS usage/costs
