About the role

AWS Global Accelerator Packet Processing team. Build and scale a high-performance DPDK data plane with emphasis on network security and DDoS resilience - forwarding, load balancing, connection tracking, traffic mitigation at line rate across 100+ global PoPs. Seattle, WA.

Requirements

• 5+ years non-internship professional software development
• 5+ years programming in at least one language
• 5+ years leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead
• Preferred: eBPF/XDP for packet processing, observability, security enforcement
• Preferred: DPDK, AF_XDP, kernel-bypass frameworks
• Preferred: full software development life cycle
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

What you'll do

• Design and build high-performance DDoS mitigation in the kernel fast-path and userspace data plane
• Develop eBPF/XDP programs for early-stage packet filtering and traffic classification at wire speed
• Extend the DPDK-based packet processor with mitigation primitives (SYN proxying, rate shaping, connection tracking)
• Analyze attack traffic patterns into automated, scalable defenses
• Own the full lifecycle of security-critical infrastructure serving global traffic
• Collaborate with AWS Shield, CloudFront, and networking teams on coordinated mitigation
