Staff Software Engineer on the Everand Core team at Scribd, Inc., owning the backend platform powering Everand's web and mobile reading and listening experiences. Distributed systems, Ruby preferred (or Scala/Go/Python), SLOs and observability, CI/CD and platform health, technical leadership and mentorship, legacy modernization, experimentation and recommendation work with ML partners. Scribd Flex work model with occasional in-person attendance; Portland, OR among approved locations.
Requirements
Significant backend engineering experience with a strong track record building and scaling distributed systems
Clean, maintainable, secure code in at least one modern backend language such as Ruby (preferred), Scala, Go, or Python
Keen eye for reliability and observability: defining SLOs, implementing metrics and alerts, debugging distributed systems
