Translational AI Scientist/Engineer

About the role

BioAge seeks a scientist/engineer to build production agentic AI for translational target and drug discovery. Work includes evidence-backed scientific recommendations, RAG/tool use over structured and unstructured biology sources, provenance, evaluation, scientific reliability, and end-to-end deployment. Requires PhD plus 2 years or MS plus 5 or BS plus 7 in a relevant field. Biology, wet-lab, target discovery, and cross-species translation expertise are central; sponsorship is unstated.

Requirements

• PhD plus 2+ years, Masters plus 5+ years, or Bachelors plus 7+ years in CS, computational biology, biology, translation science, or related field
• Hands-on production or production-like LLM agent systems with retrieval, tool use, orchestration, structured outputs, provenance, and latency/cost management
• AI evaluation with reference sets, metrics, regression tests, interpretability, and scientific reliability
• Python, software engineering, testing, APIs, data modeling, and auditable workflows
• Integrating multimodal biological data preferred
• Hands-on translational or wet-lab biology judgment preferred
• Target/drug discovery and cross-species translational science

What you'll do

• Build agentic systems for scientific reasoning, hypothesis generation, and evidence synthesis
• Recommend target-validation experiments based on retrieved published evidence
• Integrate structured and unstructured biological evidence with provenance
• Assess whether human signals reproduce in model systems
• Calibrate translatability using targets with known outcomes
• Build system-evaluation datasets, metrics, and reliability controls
• Own architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
