Remote (anywhere in Canada) Director Cloud Operations & Support at Empire Life (insurance), reporting to the VP IT Back Office. Leads operational resiliency, cloud-first operations, AI integration, holistic monitoring and SRE adoption balanced with ITIL; incident management with blameless post-mortems, toil reduction, DR alignment, helpdesk transformation, audit/compliance interface. Requires 10+ years IT with 5+ in senior operational leadership, SLOs, toil reduction, high-availability cloud; cloud ops certs (AWS SysOps / GCP DevOps). TTC CAD $159.3k-$247.8k. No mention of visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT, with 5+ in a senior operational leadership role
• Proven track record establishing SLOs, driving toil reduction and running high-availability cloud environments
• Cloud operational/security certifications (e.g. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer)
• SRE/DevOps methodology certifications an asset
• English proficiency

What you'll do

• Define strategy and roadmap for monitoring and operational excellence across the technology ecosystem
• Champion SRE practices with SLO and error-budget frameworks
• Ensure holistic real-time monitoring from front-end to back-end
• Primary interface with internal Audit and Compliance
• Modernise legacy overnight batch processes into cloud-native architecture
• Govern high-velocity incident management with blameless post-mortems
• Reduce toil through automation
• Inform DR strategy from reliability data
• Transform helpdesk into a proactive operations team
• Mentor managers and technical teams; build continuity plans
